A Vintage Gem: Rutledge, Georgia

IMG_2835.jpg

I just visited my grandma in her hometown of Rutledge, Georgia. It’s a beautiful, tiny, and very old-fashioned country town made up 99% of farm land. Rutledge is a wonderful weekend getaway as it seems that life is a bit slower than in my usual environment. It’s also a great place to find a hearty dose of southern cooking and friendly faces.

I love visiting my grandma at her antique shop in the historic downtown area, where I took the photos for this compilation. It’s a charming area of local shops, a couple of restaurants and a little park. The whole thing is surrounded by train tracks that frequently rumble with the weight of a passing cargo train that shuttles on out into the countryside.

I decided to make the photos in this collection black and white to reflect the vintage feeling and the cozy atmosphere of the old downtown.
